Our Annual Teddy Bear Toss – Saturday 17th December!
TEDDY BEAR TOSS
The Morley Glass Leeds Knights are thrilled to announce the date of its Annual Teddy Bear Toss. On Saturday 17th December, when we take on the Bees IHC, teddy bears will fly onto the ice for a brilliant cause.
The tradition is closely associated with the game of ice hockey in North America and was immediately popular when we hosted our first Teddy Bear Toss last year. At last year’s event, Knights fans donated a massive 397 teddies to children over the Christmas period.
This year we will once again be donating the bears to Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) – www.chsf.org.uk.
CHSF provide life-saving medical equipment for the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit (LCHU), vital ward resources and family support including parent accommodation. Since being founded in 1988, they’ve been awarded over £10 million in grants and the LCHU is known as a world-class centre of excellence in congenital cardiac care.
NEED A REMINDER OF HOW IT WORKS?
STEP 1: Purchase a teddy bear and put it in a bag to protect it from the ice.
STEP 2: When the Leeds Knights score their first goal of the game, throw your teddies on the ice to celebrate.
If for any reason the Knights do not score, throw your teddies onto the ice at the end of regualtion time.
Volunteers from Children’s Heart Surgery Fund will join us on the night to collect the teddies and pass them on to the children that they care for.
“Can’t make it to the game but still want to donate a bear? Donate £10 and give a Yorkshire heart warrior a bear hug this Christmas via CHSF’s Give A Bear Hug Christmas Appeal. Find out more at: www.justgiving.com/campaign/chsf-bear-hug“
