Everything you need to know VS Telford Tigers Saturday 19th November

Telford have usually been a team where their older guys take the lead, with veteran forwards such as Jason Silverthorn, Ricky Plant, Scott McKenzie and D-man Jonathan Weaver. However, some of these players have been less available this season which has resulted in the return of another veteran Tiger, in the form of Andy McKinney – who is making the step up on a two-way from the Deeside Dragons.

McKinney’s re-signing comes at a much needed time for the Telford Tigers, with 19-year old Bayley Harewood leaving following his request to do last week. Harewood has logged around a point-per-game since the beginning of 2021, where he split his season between Bees IHC, Telford Tigers and made 5 Elite League appearances for the Cardiff Devils. Harewood’s start was no different this season, having 4 goals and 7 assists in his first 11 league games, meaning he’ll be a big loss to the Tigers ahead of this weekend.

We don’t just face the 21-22 league champions at home on Saturday, but we also travel to Shropshire on the following evening, with some big points on offer as they look to increase their league position and we look to stay top of the table! Only one team can get the two points on offer at the Castle, but who will it be? Join us and find out, get your tickets here.

19-year old Finley Howells is this week’s one to watch from our visiting team – the Telford Tigers.

Finley has started the season with a hot hand, scoring 10 times in just 14 games, he’s just one goal away from a career high season despite only being a quarter or so of the way in!

Howells has had multiple multi-goal games so far this season, and on his first visit of the season to the Leeds he grabbed an assist despite his team falling to a 7-4 loss. Finley is still only 19, which is a scary thought considering how well he is playing at such a young age, with an increasing role on the Tigers team as players get older and some even move on.

The one to watch for the Morley Glass Leeds Knights this week is… #11 Matt Haywood. Haywood sits at the top of the league for assists, with an impressive 23 assists in just 16 games, along with 10 goals to boost his points tally to 33, as the second highest point scorer in the league – second to only #9 Grant Cooper!

Matt’s wealth of experience and skill has been a massive boost both on and off the ice in the Knights locker room, with his presence being massively influential.

In Sunday’s home game against the Hull Seahawks in our 4-1 win, Haywood assisted Kieran Brown twice, along with Adam Barnes, on both the opening goal and the game-winner, his assists coming at important times!

Join #21 Archie Hazeldine and #31 Sam Gospel in a post-game signing session in the Planet Ice Bar following Sunday’s home game. You can come along to meet the players, get your merch signed by them and even grab a quick picture! Player’s to be announced soon.
