The Morley Glass Leeds Knights are ecstatic to be able to confirm a key piece of our 22-23 season is returning, as #11 Matt Haywood puts pen to paper to return to The Castle for our upcoming campaign!

Matt grabbed 113 points in our league campaign, finishing 4^th in league scoring and the league leader for assists with 71.  With an additional 16 points in 4 games in our run to becoming playoff champions, Haywood was a must-have returnee for Head Coach Ryan Aldridge.

“Ever since arriving here Matty has been a massive part of this club, both on the ice and off the ice. His scoring production is incredible but it’s all the little things that he just does right as well. He’s also just an amazing human, I can’t imagine him not being a part of everything we’re trying to build here in Leeds.”

Matty has had some massively influential moments over the course of the season, picking up an impressive hat-trick in our title-winning game in Telford, scoring 7 times in the Playoffs, countless face-off wins and penalty kills and so many more.

On his return for another season at The Castle, Matty had nothing but good words for Leeds!

“I’m looking forward to being back for another season, I have loved playing in Leeds and my family and I have felt so welcomed. It was a no brainer to play here again next year and hopefully build on what we have already achieved together. Ryan is building something special within that locker room and I feel privileged to be a part of it.”
