Mini Knights Ice Hockey Taster Session this Saturday!

The Leeds Junior Knights in partnership with Planet Ice Leeds are hosting the first ever Mini Knights event this Saturday, 17th December, to encourage players born between 2013-2017 to try ice hockey.   This is a taster session for young players who would like to have a go at playing and begin their journey towards becoming a Leeds Knight.

The session will be run by the Leeds Junior Knights’ coaching staff and will give the players an idea of what it would be like to be on a Junior Knights training session.

Leeds Knights’ goalie coach Davey Lawrence will be helping run the session, “We are lucky to be part of a great sport in ice hockey and although people may think 5/6 years-old is young to play, actually it is the perfect time for them to learn a new skill.”

“It is great for their coordination, and it helps with their discipline too, because they have to learn to be part of a team.  It is also a lot of fun.”

Junior Knights head coach Mike Forbes added: “As a club we want ice hockey to be part of the culture in Leeds and for that to happen we need to get as many young people playing hockey.”

“U10s and U12s are the lifeblood of our club, and we want as many young players as we can to try the sport so those who enjoy it can take it up and come and join our club.”

No previous playing experience is required, players don’t even need their own equipment.  We will provide sticks and helmets, though you are welcome to bring your own.   We recommend everyone wears gloves and tracksuit bottoms.  Skates can be borrowed from Planet Ice Leeds.

The cost of the session is £5 and places are limited and must be booked prior to Saturday using the following link.
