The Morley Glass Leeds Knights are delighted to announce the signing of American defenceman Matt Staudacher for the 2025/26 NIHL National season.

Staudacher becomes the Knights’ second import signing of the summer and arrives in Leeds with an impressive résumé that includes a successful collegiate career with the prestigious Minnesota Gophers, where he played NCAA Division I hockey from 2019 to 2023. During his time in Minnesota, Matt was part of the team that won the Big Ten Conference Playoffs in 2021 and were Big Ten regular season champions in both 2022 and 2023. Staudacher transferred to Northeastern for his final year of school where he also won the prestigious Beanpot tournament.

Very excited to the be a part of this team!”

Knights Head Coach Ryan Aldridge believes Staudacher brings a strong two-way presence to the Knights’ defensive unit: “Matt will be a big player for us both on and off the ice. He is a natural leader and true professional.  Matt puts his team first. He is solid on the D side of the puck, big on the PK, good first pass, strong in the corners, blocks shots etc. I am looking forward to seeing what he contributes on the offensive side of the game. He comes with outstanding references both as a player and a person and I am excited to have him with us.”

Matt Staudacher’s arrival marks another significant step in building a Leeds Knights roster ready to challenge at the top once again. Welcome to Leeds, Matt!
