Sam Gospel Returns Until The End Of 23-24 Season

The Leeds Knights are delighted to confirm that Sam Gospel has put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension meaning he will remain in Leeds until at least the end of the 23/24 NIHL season.

Sam has become one of the key members of the Knights this year playing a crucial role in the teams run to the Autumn Cup Final last December. Since his return from injury the Knights have continued their push for the end of year playoffs.

In league games this year, Sam has posted a .918 save percentage and a goals against average of 2.85.

Before coming to Leeds, Sam spent time in the EIHL with the Nottingham Panthers as well as other years in the then EPL with the Telford Tigers. He also made an appearance for the Manchester Storm in the 2021 Elite Series.

Speaking after getting a freshly signed contract back on his desk, Managing Director Steve Nell said:

Bringing Sam back to the Knights was crucial and we have two good pieces of the puzzle back with Sam and Kieran. Sam has been the best netminder in the National League this year and some of his performances have been out of this world.

Having the security of a two-year deal is big for the Knights. When we started this year, we knew it would be a project and having Sam here for the next two years allows to continue that journey.
