Welcome to Leeds, Jake Witkowski!
The Morley Glass Leeds Knights are delighted to confirm that Jake Witkowski will be joining the team from the Pensacola Ice Flyers in the SPHL.
Jake is a 26-year-old forward who hails from Melrose, Massachusetts and has spent time in the NCAA with Boston University before moving to Canisius College. Jake signed with the Jacksonville Icemen in the ECHL this summer but with the downpour of players from the AHL, Jake started the season with Pensacola icing in 9 games putting up 2 goals and 1 assist.
Jake arrived in the UK today and should be in the line-up for Wednesday’s road trip to Hull.
Head Coach Ryan Aldridge said:
I am looking forward to getting Jake on the ice with the team, he is keen to get going with the Knights. He is a two-way hockey player with a team first mindset, has good offensive skills and is a right shot, something I feel we have been missing in key situations this year.
Meanwhile, Jake himself said:
I’m happy to be here, and I’m looking forward to contributing in any way I can. I’m excited to meet the boys tomorrow and to put the Knights jersey on!
With Jake’s arrival we can now confirm Grant Cooper has left the Leeds Knights and we once again reiterate our appreciation for his efforts during his time with us.
We’d like to thank Thermos® UK for their continued support of Jake and the Knights, as they’ll be his sponsor for the remainder of the season.
As well as this, the own & loan for Jake is available, so please email Warwick.Andrews@leedsknights.com for more information.
