The Leeds Knights will seek to win the National Cup for the first time in their history this weekend against the Romford Raiders. It will be their biggest weekend of the season and they will need the Knights faithful to help them secure the first bit of silverware this season!
Despite achieving two league titles and a play off title this is the one trophy which the Knights have fallen at the final hurdle and haven’t been able to get their hands on. In 2021/2022 they fell to a narrow defeat in the final to the Swindon Wildcats and same again in 2022/2023 where they lost to the Peterborough Phantoms. Last season the Hull Seahawks were victorious against the Knights in the semi-final. But this weekend, Ryan Aldridge and the team will be looking to stop the drought and add another trophy to the cabinet. However it will not be an easy task as the Romford Raiders will also be hungry to win their first bit of silverware since moving up to the NIHL.
The Raiders haven’t been able to beat the Knights in the last two seasons but they cannot be underestimated as they beat last seasons cup winners (MK Lightning) 5-3 in the semi-final to reach the final against the Knights. The first leg will take place in Romford on Saturday and then the Knights will need all your support on Sunday to help them win that trophy, see you there!
