Leeds Knights are thrilled to announce that netminder Sam Gospel has signed a contract extension, keeping him between the pipes at The Castle for another season!
A cornerstone of the Knights’ recent success, Gospel has been instrumental in the team's back-to-back best defensive records in the NIHL National League across the past two seasons as well as the best save percentage in the entire division last season.
Gospel’s consistently elite performances earned him a well-deserved spot on the NIHL All-Star Team for the 2024/25 season, further solidifying his reputation as one of the top netminders in British ice hockey.
Since joining Leeds, Gospel has brought experience, calmness, and a relentless work ethic to the net, attributes that have helped the Knights secure 3 NIHL National league titles in a row and their first ever NIHL National Cup, establishing themselves as serious contenders year after year.
Gospel said "They treat me so well and you want to be at a successful club. It obviously makes things a lot easier when you win and, for me, it’s just right for me, including my family. I get on like a house on fire with Ryan and Steve - it’s a club where I’ve been at from the very start, and I am more than happy there.”
Head Coach Ryan Aldridge expressed his enthusiasm about retaining such a key player:
“It’s obviously great to have Gossy back. He gives us a chance to win every game, and we would not have achieved what we have without him. He comes to compete every night, and the guys get to play with confidence knowing he is behind them”
With Gospel returning between the pipes, Leeds Knights continue to build a strong core for another ambitious campaign in the NIHL National League.
