The role of the Leeds Knights mascot, Leo The Knight, is to serve as an engaging and entertaining representative for the Leeds Knights, enhancing the fan experience and promoting the team’s brand. Below are the key roles and responsibilities of Leo The Knight.
Roles
Brand Ambassador
- Represent the team at games, events, and community programs, embodying the team’s values and spirit, as and when required.
Fan Engagement Specialist
- Interact with fans of all ages to create a fun and memorable experience, fostering loyalty and excitement for the team.
- Be visible in VIP areas only if/when requested by the Partnership Manager.
Responsibilities
Game-Day Presence
- Attend all home games & Arrive 1hr before doors due to open.
- Participate in a pre-match briefing with the Match Night Coordinator one hour before doors open.
- Check the mascot kit to ensure Leo has all relevant items; report any issues to the Match Night Coordinator immediately.
- When the weather is dry, be outside engaging with fans while they queue, 20-30 minutes before doors open, to enhance fan interaction.
- Perform during pre-game activities, period breaks, and the "chuck-a-puck" segment to maintain high energy levels.
- Participate in photo sessions with fans.
- All match entertainment must be discussed and authorised with the match night coordinator a week before the game, DJ cannot authorise any changed to the planned schedule or timings.
Costume Maintenance
Ensure the mascot costume is clean, presentable, and in good condition. Liaise with the Match Night Coordinator for any issues.
All Jerseys to be given to the Equipment manager at the end of every game to be laundered, these are required to always remain in the rink as they are property of Leeds Knights.
Safely and neatly store the kit at the end of each game in the locked stock cupboard, including but not limited to:
- Leo’s head
- Leo’s gloves
- Leo’s footwear
- Leo’s shoulder pads, elbow pads, knee pads, and short pads.
